Name: "Battle of the Badges" Blood Drive
Date: December 13, 2018
Time: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST
Event Description:
The American Red Cross is currently facing a severe blood shortage and needs our help now, so blood can be available for patients during this critical time. Menlo Park firefighters and law enforcement personnel are teaming up with the American Red Cross for our second Battle of the Badges blood drive to see who can recruit the most eligible donors in the community to give blood. Our first drive was a great success bringing in 29 pints of blood. We look to exceed this amount this time around.

Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition that helps the Red Cross meet patient and hospital demand for blood. First responders know firsthand how important it is to have blood readily available for emergencies and are excited to step up to the challenge by organizing this drive and educating the community about the importance of blood donation.

The American Red Cross will be handing out "Battle of the Badges" t-shirts.

Individuals can join the Battle of the Badges blood drive by stopping by to donate blood on site. Appointments are encouraged but are not required. To make an appointment to donate, call 800-RED-CROSS or register online.

How to donate blood
Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor app, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Blood donors can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online on the day of their donation but before arriving at the blood drive. To get started and learn more, visit redcrossblood.org/RapidPass and follow the instructions on the site.
